The best over 50s yoga classes

Yoga can be a great way of keeping in shape, what with all those exotic sounding positions, stretches and bends.

It’s more than possible that you’ve thought about giving it a go in the past and felt too scared to, or that someone might judge you in a class.

Worry no more – we’ve rounded up the best yoga classes, specially designed for the over 50s. They’re suited just for you.

Hampshire

Run at a slightly slower pace than normal, this class is good for improving both your strength and flexibility.

When: Wednesday, 10.30am – 12pm

South London

Strictly speaking this is a combination of mind, body and soul balancing exercise with meditation too – but it definitely counts. By the lovely people at Age UK.

Brighton

Stretch and Relax is designed for any age or fitness level, and takes place in a peaceful, non-competitive atmosphere.

When: Wednesdays, 12 – 1.30pm

Buckinghamshire

Yoga for All is run by Julie Cade, who promises a warm welcome for everyone. Yoga is about “growing older with a longer spine,” she says – this class will help you enjoy renewed flexibility.

When: Thursday, 9.30 – 11.15am

Bristol

Yoga “addict” Suzi runs YogaFriendly, and this brilliant over 50s class near Bristol. “Many of our age related symptons can actually be caused simply by inactivity,” she says, and this is one of the ways to fix it.

When: Tuesday and Thursday, 10 – 11.15am
